Community
Organizing
Pomona
Hope is organizing neighborhoods to effectively address systemic
issues that touch families. In partnership with area churches, and
the industrial areas foundations (One LA), house meetings (groups
of families in neighborhoods that come together to discuss public
issues) are conducted annually in and around neighborhoods.
To
date Pomona Hope has helped energize neighborhoods to enter the
public life of its city with the intent of taking ownership of public
issues such as the state of current neighborhood infrastructure
(poor maintenance or lack of sidewalks and streetlights) as well
as issues of crime and safety.
Blending
a mixture of leadership from neighborhoods as well as clergy, Pomona
Hope has worked with city hall, school board and economic institutions
to effectively engage negative, systemic issues for change.
